Auto Manufacturing Industry returns to South Australia

Failure of Car Manufacturing in Australia

With the closure of Ford, Holden, and Toyota’s factories, we witnessed the decline of the traditional auto manufacturing industry in Australia. Geelong, Melbourne and Adeliade were particularly hard hit. This downfall had a significant impact on the economy and employment rates in South Australia. The once-thriving industry was left in shambles, leaving many to wonder if auto manufacturing would ever return to the region.

Rise of Electric Vehicles

Now there’s a new player in town, and it’s electric. The rise of electric vehicles (EVs) is providing a beacon of hope for South Australia’s auto manufacturing industry. ACE-EV are leading the charge with their range of light commercial vehicles.

Electric Vehicle sales are up.

Big names like Woolworths are taking notice, investing in a small fleet of electric trolley collection vehicles for Western Sydney is a great start. Forget that noisy tractor with it’s ungainly tralier roaring through the Woolies car park, spewing out diesel fumes. The new age of trolley collection is silent and smells much better. Medium range electric vehicles are very well suited to this type of use. With a range of 200+ kilometers, and easy overnight charging, they will be idle for short periods of the day, allowing for a quick top-up on a high speed charger if needed.

Innovations mean Jobs!

Plus, with ACE-EV’s ambitious plans to increase production from 10 vehicles per week to 50 vehicles per day in just a couple of years, you can expect to see a significant boost to the local economy and job market. This resurgence of auto manufacturing in South Australia is not only exciting but  a testament to the region’s ability to adapt and innovate in a rapidly changing industry.

ACE plan on at least 25% and up to 50% of their parts being locally sourced initially. Who knows, if this really takes off, we might even see a major resurgence in the peripheral parts manufacturing industries that failed in the wake of Holden, Ford and Toyota abandoning manufacturing in Australia.

ACE plan on providing unskilled workers with on the job training. A major win for workers in the local area. Sourcing parts locally is another bonus for the local workforce.

Support from Big Companies

Woolworths has already committed to purchasing a trial fleet of ACE-EV vehicles to collect trolleys.

Support from companies like Woolworths is crucial for ACE-EV’s success, as it provides a steady stream of revenue and helps to drive demand for their electric vehicles. With more companies expected to follow suit, ACE-EV is well-positioned to capitalise on the growing trend towards sustainable transportation. As you consider the potential of ACE-EV, it’s clear that their partnership with Woolworths is just the beginning of their journey towards becoming a major player in the auto manufacturing industry.

Now that electric vehicles are gaining traction, we’re likely to see more big companies throwing their weight behind ACE-EV.

If we could see some of our emergency services pick up EVs we might see some real progress.

Unfortunately not in South Australia no traction or interest despite launching there in August 2019. Marshall welched and current SA Labor no interest
